Mother and son activity

We were lucky and got the oppertunity as a Primary to do the Mother Son activity for this year for our ward. We decided the boys needed a "Manly" activity. We got Zombie targets and balloons and made Marshmallow shooters. All of our treats revolved around marshmellows as well.

Primary vs Elders Article of faith challenge

Our elders quorum president had a great idea to encourage the elders to participate in learning the articles of faith.  He decided we would challenge all of the elders to learn the articles of faith and compete against the primary children to see who knew the articles of faith better. 

We put on an "I love the articles of faith" theme challenge. We have the children split into 13 groups and assigned each group and article of faith. They had time to practice for a few minutes before the challenge started.  As all of the elders came we had them put their name on a Popsicle stick and their names got drawn randomly.... Ok... I know.... They gave us a much better chance at winning....  We also drew the article of faith numbers out randomly.  

We asked three individuals to judge and another to keep score. 

My most amazing primary chorister ended up having to do an article of faith for the primary. She got up and belted the 10th article of faith song.... Well needless to say our judges gave her an extra point... And so began the singing challenge LOL!  We had elders and children getting up to sing the songs. It was such a blast! 

Now.... We did have a few children that are shy but wanted to participate. Our adorable judges let them pass it off in private and then just added the score totals. 

We ended with treats for everyone and a good old team cheer! 

Blue and Gold

Let me start off by saying.... Never change Cub Scout leaders in January. I didn't realize the stress I would put on the new leaders by throwing the blue and gold banquet on them with less than a month to plan. However, they did AMAZING! I am so lucky and blessed to have such wonderful leaders working with me.

They planned a Cub Scout trivia and asked some fun questions about cub scouts to see who would know the answers..... (What's the 2 finger handshake called)...

Then they did a fun activity where they had the boys write down on the rocks things that made them who they are (family, church, friends...,) it was a great little get to know you game! 

  

Then of course.... What's a Blue and gold without food....

I am ultra cheap and corny but I wanted to participate and show my appreciation to all of the leaders, so I provided the food to help them be stress free. I did crockpot soups. (Love my crockpot, 10 minutes of prep time each and they cook on their own)

I also had lots of leftover mustache supplies from my daughters school valentines class party. I took advantage of that and made the theme around the stache'. The boys had a great time playing with the stache stuff. 

It was such a great night. Very simple and it was great to visit with the parents and other scout leaders. 

To top it off! One of my wonderful and amazing scout parents had collected pictures all year. He put together a wonderful picture slide show.  When I figure out how to upload it I will add it. 

Activity Day Recognition.

I am one of the luckiest Primary Presidents in the world. I have such great members of my auxiliary that have wonderful ideas and are eager to see their ideas accomplished.

My amazing Activity day leaders wanted to recognize the girls that have worked so hard to accomplished the  Faith in God goals they had met.

We invited all the girls to do a display to show off some talents and interests.

We had one activity day girl and one former activity day girl talk about the importance of activity days.

Each of the leaders talked on the love they have for the girls and share their testimonies. They also rewarded each of the girls with a bookmark that had a tag for each section the girls had completed as well as a tag with their name and a birthday tag. The plan it to give a book mark to each of the girls with the birthday tag attached when they turn 8 and join activity days. They used shrinkadink to make the tags.

We then ended the activity with brownies and ice cream and cute bottles of water that my 10 year old daughter made labels for.

Yep... There's a belt loop for that....

This past week we had our monthly Cub Scout pack meeting. Our boys learned about video gaming maturity levels, proper time management as well as other gaming safety precautions. We had a great time. After the training we set up a rotation and let the boys go around the room playing different types of gaming systems. It was so much fun!

Priesthood Preview

We only have one boy advancing into the priesthood this year. I was worried he would be surrounded by adults staring at him and making the night uncomfortable for all so I invited some of the Young Men that had already advanced to join us. Now, to be clear..... I did not know anything about Priesthood Preview. After research I found.

I asked one boy from each of the Young Men classes to come and speak. 

Deacon President was asked to speak on the responsibilities of a Deacon, one Teacher to speak on the responsibilities of a Teacher and then one Priest to speak on the responsibilities of a Priest. 

We had out Bishop finish up with an overview of Priesthood responsibilities. The theme of the night was around Neck Tie's. I enjoyed our bishops comments that included a discussion on the tie. There are many different sizes of neck ties. A child looks pretty silly wearing an adult tie. We must grow into the larger tie's just as the young men need to grow into the different levels of the Priesthood. 

This evening was for that boy whom will advance into the Young Men organization but I am a little embarrassed to say that I learned so much that night..... You know the chairs we sit it.... they don't magically set them self up? LOL- Okay I did know that, but my point is that These Young Men sacrifice there time in many many areas to help our church function. There are many times they are up early to lets say.... set up chairs and are staying later to collect fast offerings for our church. This church truly helps us raise our boys into men... men that will serve and be a positive impact on our society. I am so blessed to have been part of this amazing night and I thank all of those that participated.
